A love of art  and pets as a child has grown into a part time hobby

and small business for me as a pet portrait artist. I grew up in the

northern suburbs of Sydney.  We had a busy household; four children, three

 rescue cats and a dog.. We also play home to a number of lace

monitors, wallabies, water dragons and other wildlife in the vacant

land adjacent to our home which has been a wonderful experience

for my children.

 

I started doing pet portraits years ago on the request of friends. I create my pet portraits from photos supplied by my clients. They are not digitally produced or enhanced. Each piece is an original artwork. Sometimes one clear photo is all I need. In other instances a few photos can help to provide the detail and correct colouring needed to produce an accurate portrait whilst capturing your pet's personality. Sometimes I make up the portrait that never was - like the one of the older dog and the puppy and the sketch of the cats on the lounge in my Gallery. These were created from a few photos and put together to produce the poses of the portraits. Please take a look at my Gallery for other  recently completed commissions. The media I use for all my pet portraits is pencil or pencil and graphite together and for coloured portraits - Prismacolor premium coloured pencils or chalk pastels. All finished work is sealed with a matt finishing spray to prevent smudging on transport and handling.  I do have more examples of finished portraits to add to my gallery soon.

During the covid pandemic in 2020 I explored mosaics and produced quite a few pieces for around my home and also a few custom items for friends. My current passion is decoupage. I will update my gallery with some projects soon and I am in the processing of setting up my on line shop for decoupage jewellery, jute bags and decoupage pots.   With the mosaics clients tell me what they want, the colour scheme they were thinking of. We discuss the project and come up with a plan. The rest is up to me.
